It is a transformative initiative that will provide a youthful profile to the armed forces. Under this scheme, young persons will be provided an opportunity to serve in the armed forces as “Agniveer”. It provides an opportunity for youth to serve in the regular cadre of the armed forces for a period of 4 years including training period. Agniveers shall be recruited between the ages of 17.5 to 21 years. Candidates who are 10th /12th pass can apply for the recruitment process.

On the other side of the spectrum , amid violent protests over the Agnipath recruitment scheme, the government has addressed the concerns of the youth and reassured them that the future of Agniveers is stable.

Altering the Attitude of Mind

ALTERING THE ATTITUDE OF MIND

Dr Suhaib Ashraf Bhat

Thinking about the matters of our daily lives, and our private and public affairs is something that is essential and important, it is necessary in order for us to deal with these matters and benefit from them in the appropriate manner.

Thinking in and of itself is not a problem, rather it is required, important and essential,

This “thinking” may become a psychological or social problem if it prevents a person from playing his natural role that is expected of him in life.

Such as thinking that things are more serious than they really are, or thinking too much about matters where thinking about them will not change anything at all, rather that only causes distress and becomes an obstacle prevents one from taking any initiative, and make him hesitant and confused, and unable to take any decision.

With regard to thinking a great deal about everything and worrying about every problem, this is to some extent a natural thing, so long as it does not prevent you from living your lives in a natural manner. What I mean here is, is this thinking helping you to come up with solutions to these problems that you are facing? Do these situations deserve all the time that you are spending on thinking about them? If the answer is yes, then there is no problem! But if the answer is no, then you yourself are admitting that they do not warrant that, and then you are halfway to solving the problem, which is to identify the problem and take a decision concerning it. Because when we know what the problem is, it is easy for us to find the right way of dealing with it.

Overcoming these problems needs some discipline and some time. You can make the decision to start and you are able, with the help and support of Allah swt, to do that. You have to trust yourselves in this regard!

I suggest to you that you divide your concerns and problems into three categories or levels:

1. Concerns and problems that have a direct impact upon your lives in a serious manner that may lead to breakdown in your happy lives. These must be given their due measure of objective thought and you should try to reach an agreement and settle the matter. They should not be ignored for so long that it becomes too difficult to deal with them.

2. The second level is concerns or problems in which the positive and negative aspects are equal and in which you are involved. In these cases seek help from Allah swt and it is o.k. to consult others concerning them and to weigh up alternatives, then decide what you think is the solution, bearing in mind without going to extremes in worrying about it.

3. The third level is concerns and worries that do not concern you at all, because they have to do with other people. It is better not to get involved in them and waste your time with them, because they simply do not concern you and your opinion does not matter.

The concerns and matters of our daily lives inevitably fall into one of three categories:

1. Matters which are in the past and are over and done with. We should not worry about these too much, except to the extent from which we can learn from our mistakes and experiences when dealing with things in the future. The past cannot come back and there is no need to worry about things that are over and done with.

2. Matters which lay ahead in the future. It is more appropriate not to think about these a great deal before they happen, because the future is part of the unseen, and all that we have to do in this case is to examine the choices we have in this matter if it comes to pass. When the time comes, we have to put our trust in Allah swt and take a decision.

3. Matters of day-to-day life. This is where we attempt to weigh up all the available alternatives, and it is fine to consult others with regard to these things and to exchange ideas without going to extremes or worrying too much.

Do not be sad, because sadness cause you to regret the past, to have misgivings concerning the future and to make you waste away your present. Do not be sad because grief cannot return the one that is lost or is gone away. Have faith, Give your life a second chance. Keep your eyes open. Lost will be replaced with something best. See upon you the signs of blessing, How many have been deprived of that which we already have? Lock your blessing up and keep them safe by being thankful.

Past is gone, future is unseen, so all you have is present.  Are you the one who created human? Are you the one who grants them provision? Are you the one who is taking care of their needs?

No, it is Allah swt, Who does all that, Who is more merciful towards them than you are. Have complete trust that Allah swt will never cause them to be lost, may He be glorified and praised. This matter is not up to us at all. If all the people thought in this way no one would have any peace of mind. But praise be to Allah swt Who has guaranteed provision for everyone. Allah swt says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And no moving (living) creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah swt. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterus or grave). All is in a Clear Book (Al‑Lawh Al‑Mahfooz — the Book of Decrees with Allah swt)” [Hood 11:6]

So cast these thoughts away from your mind.

Maybe you have a day coming up that will be your first free day in a long time, and you want to make the most of it. Maybe you’re thinking about those days you wake up and feel weirdly present, happy about the sunshine, singing to yourself, and want to know how to have more of them. Let today be the day you let go of worries and embrace pleasure and contemplation. Let go of yourself, get lost, slow down, and enjoy the moment. The one who seeks happiness and success in this world has to have a balanced approach without letting the one outweigh the other. In this manner he can strengthen his heart with faith and find peace of mind in doing that which he is required to do. You know that death is an inevitable reality that will come to every living thing, and no one will be spared that, no matter how noble his status before Allah swt. Allah swt said to His Prophet, the noblest of all creation (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die, and verily, they (too) will die”

[al-Zumar 39:30]

And Allah swt says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing)” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:185]

And the poet said:

Every son of a female, no matter how long he lives, Will one day be carried on the bier.

Every day doctors and scientists engage themselves in finding out ways by which life can be extended as much as possible. Life includes happiness and sorrows. Those are called the ups and downs of life. Without them, life is just an endless battle that can always be won. It is however important to find happiness in life to overcome one’s sorrows. Only then life seems to be beautiful.

Some people believe the purpose of life is getting wealthy. However, what will be the purpose of their life after collecting millions of dollars? If the purpose of life is to become wealthy, there will be no purpose after becoming wealthy.

In fact, here lies the problem of some people in the last stages of their lives. After they have collected the money which they dreamt of, their life loses its purpose and they live in tension, restlessness and suffer from the panic of nothingness.

Can attaining wealth be an aim?

We often hear of wealthy people committing suicide; sometimes, it is not the wealthy person himself but members of his family – his wife or children. The question is: Can aiming for wealth bring happiness to the individual? In most cases, the answer is ‘No’. Is the purpose of collecting wealth a long-standing purpose?

As we know, a five-year-old child does not look for wealth: he prefers a toy to a million dollars. An 18-year-old adolescent does not dream of wealth because he is busy with things that are more important. A 90-year-old does not care for money; he is more worried about his health. This proves that wealth cannot be a long-standing purpose in all the stages of an individual’s life.

Conclusion: People have different purposes at different stages in their lives such as collecting money and property, indulging in sex, eating and dancing. However, all these purposes are temporary, they come and go. Money comes and goes. Health comes and goes. Sexual activities cannot continue forever. All these lusts for money, food and sex cannot answer the individual’s question to himself: what next?

Rameez Makhdoomi

Located at distance of 165 kilometers from Srinagar and 40 kilometers from Gurez , the Tulail Valley in Gurez is one of the remotest area in Jammu and Kashmir region bordering areas under control of  Pakistan.

Wood delivers on innovative design, speed, cost and resource efficiency, health & wellbeing, and offers a low-carbon, environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional building materials.

Traditional wooden houses give especially the old Tulail areas look of wooden villages full of beauty and mystery .

Wild labour,mild back

Wild labour, mild back

News Kashmir

Child labour is a menace hurting entire humanity.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it. Each year on 12 June, the World Day brings together governments, employers and workers organizations, civil society, as well as millions of people from around the world to highlight the plight of child labourers and what can be done to help them.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by world leaders in 2015, include a renewed global commitment to ending child labour. Specifically, target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals calls on the global community to: “Take immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recruitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms.

The 2022 World Day Against Child Labour took  place shortly after the 5th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour . Ensuring universal access to social protection is an integral part of the “Durban Call to Action” , adopted during the Conference, and essential to help construct a path towards a world free of child labour, as called for under SDG Target 8.7, and towards universal social protection, as reflected in SDG Target 1.3.

Child labour is a serious issue in entire country as well as in Jammu and Kashmir.  According to different reports on ‘child labour in J&K: social, economic and ethical dimension’ there are more than one lakh child labourers in the state, majority of whom work in the handicrafts sector, automobile workshops, brick kilns, agriculture and as domestic servants in homes.

It is know fact

Child labour deprives children of their right to go to school and reinforces intergenerational cycles of poverty. According to data from Census 2011, the number of child labourers in India is 10.1 million of which 5.6 million are boys and 4.5 million are girls.

Even in our region the child labour is seen from streets to homes , with innocence of children getting ruined due to the evil of Child Labour . We as a society need to raise all awareness to kill the root causes of child labour and ensures each child reaches school .

One hopes that all the required steps needed to eliminate child labour from world would be taken.

Telemedicine Growth in India

Telemedicine Growth in India

Telemedicine is a general term that covers all of the ways you and your doctor can use technology to communicate without being in the same room. It includes phone calls, video chats, emails, and text messages. People also call it telehealth, digital medicine, e-health, or m-health (for “mobile”).

India as a country in recent times has seen important developments in the field of Telemedicine.

It is worth mentioning here that

National Health Authority (NHA) announced recently  the successful integration of eSanjeevani with its flagship scheme – Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This integration allows the existing users of eSanjeevani, the telemedicine service of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to easily create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and use it to link and manage their existing health records like prescriptions, lab reports, etc. The users would also be able to share their health records with doctors on eSanjeevani which will help in better clinical decision making and ensuring the continuum of care.

Speaking about the significance of this integration, Dr. R. S. Sharma, CEO, NHA said – “ABDM aims to build digital highways to bridge the gaps in existing digital health solutions and stakeholders in India. The integration of eSanjeevani with ABDM is one such example where the 22 crore ABHA holders can link and store their health records created via eSanjeevani directly in the health lockers of their choice. The users can also share their previously linked health records with the doctors on eSanjeevani making the entire consultation process paper-less.”

eSanjeevani service is available in two variants. The first one is eSanjeevani Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centre (AB-HWC) – the Doctor-to-Doctor telemedicine service through which the beneficiaries visiting a HWC can virtually connect to doctors/ specialists in the Hub that could be at tertiary healthcare facility/hospital/medical college.

One hopes Telemedicine field in the country continues to grow.

Political empowerment of women must for Human progress : Rekha Mody

Rekha Mody is a prominent women face of India and a well known social activist the founder of Stree Shakti – The Parallel Force. Her organization fights for ensuring women Empowerment,  especially the political empowerment in terms of reservations in Assemblies and parliament of country .

In an exclusive interview with News Kashmir,  she talks to Rameez Makhdoomi and Farzana Mumtaz.

What is the main focus areas of your organization?

Our main focus of the organization  is equality for women and for that we work in three  areas .The first is visibility of  leadership of Women who can be Thinker,  Doctor , Writer,  etc. The second is issue of ageing women and the third is political empowerment.  Without political empowerment of women we can’t acheive desired human progress. When women is not empowered it makes both men and women also children unhappy. For society to progress in right direction women have to be politically empowered and we are fighting for this.

Your organization   also fighting for women reservation in Assembly , a bit about that?

After the Panchayat reservation dimension in 1993 there were  issues . Prajapati and Bahu beti brigade like things but things are changing towards better and with time good leaders are coming and things are changing for better for women .

Is Patriachy losing its grip in Indian society ?

We have to acknowledge that we were not a patriarchal society if we go to Vedic period , women choose their life partner and women were educated and many other good  things  . But due to several factors the patriarchy crept in and many invasions lead to Augmentation of patriarchy in our society .

Is your organization also fighting on rising crimes like rapes against women ?

No we are not dealing on such aspects as there are many other organizations fighting on women safety,  our focus is mainly political empowerment of women.

Do you believe that political reservation you are fighting in assemblies and parliament would be a reality one day?

I am 100 percent sure that it would be reality soon and when our government is talking of 100 trillion dollar economy it can’t happen unless both men and women contribute equally.

In post pandemic what role of women do you see in social and political revival of the country ?

Everyone has to play his or her role in revival of economy and infrastructure in the country especially in the post pandemic times. During the hard times of Pandemic it was revealed to us we need more medical colleges in the country to combat pandemics and disasters.

What is your take of women position  in corporate world?

In entire world majority of companies are not giving them due role. Sometimes women also don’t want distant transfers due to family issues that also hinders their progress.

Do you believe that women are mostly remote controlled by men relatives in politics ?

No this is not the reality as women are smart and make excellent independent decisions often when in power .

Do you believe that women also aid patriarchy?

No it is just a small percentage of women that aid patriarchy  but overall I believe  majority humans are good .

Do you believe we need to believe that both men and women can be good as well as bad  human ?

Yes absolutely  there is certain degree of men in every women and certain degree of women in every man so both as humans can be good or ok or bad .

What is your message to women of India ?

In India the sacrifice is part of our value system and thus focus is women to be better mother and nurture her children as good humans . When we raise our children as good humans tendency towards evil phenomenon would be less .

Bloodbath

Bloodbath

News Kashmir Exclusive

The painful situation in Kashmir is back with innocent killings happening on regular instances now , which is causing anger and rage both in Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of country.  The return of bloodbath is a tragic news for one and all as past three decades violence,  terror and many other things have destroyed the peace and prosperity of Kashmir.

Kulgam in South Kashmir and Chadoora in Central  Kashmir are seeing much tragic episodes .

On June 2, 2022

Bloodbath saw yet another ugly dimension when A bank manager from Rajasthan, posted at the Ellaquai Dehati Bank in the Valley, was shot dead by militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam on Thursday morning, while  in the evening a non-local labourer was shot dead by terror elements  in Magraypora area of Budgam district in the evening.

These are not the lone episodes as before it series of targeted attacks have happened. Before these episodes, few days back 36-year-old Kashmiri Pandit teacher named Rajni Bala was shot and killed  in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, sparking a wave of outrage by the Hindu community living in the valley. The KP community in J&K protested against the killing and demanded protection for them.

On May 12, Rahul Bhat, an employee of the revenue department in Budgam, sustained serious injuries after militants fired at him . He was rushed to a hospital in Srinagar where he died a little while later.

In other set of tragedy, The killing of Vijay Kumar, a bank employee, by terrorists on Thursday, the 12th of a civilian since March, triggered another round of exits of migrant Hindu and Kashmiri Pandit workers and their families from the Valley. The exodus has revived memories of the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley between 1989 and 1995.

On the other hand, As targeted killing of civilians in the Kashmir Valley continued, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) Samant Goel and Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB) A.S Rajan on Thursday. The details of the meeting were not known.

The sane demand is that atmosphere of terror and fear in Kashmir has to end .

This bloodbath is certainly giving painful times reminder to one and all in Kashmir. The hopes are that this bloodshed will end soon  and Kashmir would witness new dawn of prosperity.
