Global Dance Day 2024
Dance is an important art form that heals us.Dance is not just an art form but also extremely beneficial for overall health because it is said that 30 minutes of dance class is equivalent to a jogging session. It is one of the best and most fun fitness exercises in which there is no need to lift heavy weights, no painful stretches, etc. Dance also has various benefits for mental health and is a great way to relax. Every year on April 29, International Dance Day is observed to celebrate this beautiful form of art and to cherish other dance forms globally.
The creators and organisers of the events are ITI by UNESCO. Let us tell you that in 1982, International Dance Day was created and since then an outstanding personality is selected to write a message for International Dance Day. Even ITI, in a selected host city, create a flagship event where several dance performances, educational workshops, speeches by dignitaries, dance artists, humanitarian projects, etc. took place.
We can’t ignore the fact that this day is a celebration for those who value dance and its art forms and also acts as a wake-up call for others, institutions, etc. who have not yet recognised its value.
As a matter of fact, burns calories, strengthens muscles, improves balance, increases flexibility, and gives the heart a good workout. Dance has also been proven to increase cognitive development.
We need to bear in mind that was chosen on April 29th because it was the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, innovator, and scholar of this art, teacher, and creator of modern ballet.
This celebration strives to encourage the participation and education of dance through events and festivals held during this date around the world.
